2023 Nakota Language Conference

“Whereas the recognition and implementation of rights related to Indigenous languages are at the core of reconciliation with Indigenous peoples and are fundamental to shaping the country, particularly in light of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action.” Indigenous Languages Act, S.C. 2019, c. 23. Assented to 2019-06-21.

This conference will help build capacity for First Nation communities that need Language Revitalization strategies. This conference will engage elders, leaders, cultural/traditional knowledge keepers, and Nakota (Stoney) Language Teachers and Teacher Aids to share knowledge and best practices is one way of strengthening faculty and expanding language programs and services.
